My Grandchildren

My six wonderful grandchildren have grown up before my eyes
The things they do and say are nothing short on surprise
The eldest is 13 now but to hear her you’d think 21
Where have all those innocent years gone?
The comical things they say when first learning to talk
The falling they do when first learning to walk
The kisses they give filled with love and respect
The answers they want and always expect
They grow up so quickly the years passing by
They soon become teenagers and then we will cry
As they say things to hurt us to push us they’ll try
They want their own way and again we will cry
But soon when they’ve grown up and made their mistakes
They want our forgiveness and become our best mates
It’s all part of life’s teaching that paves the way
To help us to learn and forgive them one day
Our kids are our future, our present and past
And the parents of tomorrow in a world so vast
