We got a fantastic response to our call for help with the Talking Community News in the August edition of the Community News. As well as new volunteers offering to help out with the technical side of the production, residents also contacted us about becoming readers
I'm sure many readers will notice when our regular proof reader Dawn Mines isn’t available. It really is difficult to proof read something you have been working on for days, so the proof reader plays a key role in the production of our community newspaper.
The Community News is often produced to very tight deadlines and Dawn does a brilliant job of proofing the paper, on any day of the week and at all hours of the day and night. But we urgently need more people to join Dawn on a proofing team that will keep a watchful eye on the Community News and our website.
We send Adobe PDF documents of the newspaper, via email, to Dawn which she then proofs, which means she can do the job in the comfort of her own home using her own computer. Commenting in Adobe isn't difficult at all, but you do need a reasonable level of computer skills.
If you’re interested in joining a proofing team email Muriel, manager of HMCM, at muriel.stretton@hmcm.org.uk. We really are hopping to here from you sun.
